*Be aware of your surroundings. Consciously and continuously survey your surroundings and make decisions on where to run based on your intuition and gut feeling.
*Run with confidence. Even if you don’t feel confident, fake it! Run with your shoulders back, look others in the eye. Don’t show fear.
*Run with pepper spray or a kubaton in your hand. They are inexpensive and easy to purchase. Call us at 440-463-5022 to get yours! Know how to use them (we’ll teach you) and be prepared to use them.
*Research the area you will be running. You can look up the crime rates in different parts of the cities or town easily online. Choose neighborhoods you feel comfortable running in.
*Always let someone know where you are headed and run with your phone. Use the “Find My Friends” app on your iPhone so your loved ones know right where you are.
*Most importantly, take a C.O.B.R.A. Self-Defense class.
Learn simple, but effective, techniques to get away from a dangerous situation.
LANDSCAPING FOR SAFETY
Burglars hit roughly 1.03 million U.S. residences every year, about one every 13 seconds. Trim your chances of joining the statistics by landscaping for security.
*Increase visibility by trimming all bushes and hedges to 3 feet or shorter. Anything taller and you create a hiding place for criminals.
*Cover the ground near your windows with gravel. The loud crunch of footsteps on gravel is enough of a deterrent for a burglar to search for another target.
*Plant low, thorny bushes beneath your windows. Bougainvillea, barberries, roses or any prickly specimen may help to deter break-ins.
*Prune your trees so that the branches don’t overhang the roof of your house. A sturdy branch leading straight to a window or an upstairs balcony can give burglars an easy way in.
Practice makes perfect! Have you trained with us before? If so, when you recommend us to a friend, and they register for a class, you can come along again…..for free! It’s a great way to reinforce the techniques learned and impress your friend.
Our business relies on word of mouth reviews (and Google reviews). If you like what we do, please help spread the word to your friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.
